Enjoy sunset drinks atop the famous Big Red Sand Dune, then settle in for the night at the historic Birdsville hotel. Next, we take to the skies for a breathtaking scenic flight over the shimmering expanse of Lake Eyre, before continuing onto Winton for a stay at the exclusive Rangelands Outback Camp. While in Winton, explore the fascinating Australian Age of Dinosaurs, stroll through the Waltzing Matilda Centre, and take in a spectacular sunset over the surrounding ranges. Your adventure concludes with a visit to the magnificent Carnarvon Ranges and a scenic return flight home – capping off an unforgettable outback experience filled with natural beauty, iconic locations and rich heritage!

Itinerary
- Day One
Gold Coast → Charleville → Birdsville & Big Red
Checking into the Seair hangar at 6:45am, your adventure begins with a meet and greet with the other guests, before an early briefing and our departure sees the sun rising over the Gold Coast as you head west for a 2hr 30min flight to Charleville during which a light breakfast will be supplied.This Central Queensland town is home to a Royal Flying Doctor Services base, a vital lifeline for remote Australians, the RFDS continues to provide medical services to the farthest corners of the country. While in Charleville you drop into the RFDS visitor centre for an inside look into the organisation.On departure from Charleville we continue west, further into the Outback. Arriving into Birdsville at approximately 1:00pm we overfly the iconic Birdsville Racecourse just before landing and then taxi the aircraft up and park out the front of the Birdsville Hotel (just across the road).Ever since William Blair first built the Birdsville Hotel in 1884, it’s weathered sandstone walls have been a welcome refuge to travellers from across the globe for more than 130 years. A destination in its own right, the pub has endured floods, fires and even cyclones to stand as a symbol of the spirit and character of the outback.Spend the afternoon exploring Birdsville before regrouping at 4:30pm, to climb aboard the air conditioned 4WD tour vehicle and head west into the Simpson Desert to enjoy sunset drinks on Big Red, the first major dune as you enter the desert.After sunset, return to the Birdsville Hotel at 7:30pm for dinner and drinks at their heritage listed front bar.Overnight accommodation: Motel units at the Birdsville Hotel
- Day Two
Lake Eyre Scenic Flight → Winton
Day two kicks off with a hearty breakfast in Birdsville before taking to the skies for the breathtaking views of Big Red and the vast Simpson Desert. Flying low, you’ll trace the winding Diamantina River through the Goyder Lagoon and over the tip of Kati-Thanda Lake Eyre North. Soaring high above, take in the sheer scale of the lake’s 9,500 square kms during your Lake Eyre scenic flight.You’ll land back at the Birdsville Hotel for a hearty lunch in the historic Pub. In the afternoon you’ll relax in the comfort of your Cessna Caravan for a flight over Western Queensland to Winton before checking into your exclusive accommodation at Rangelands Outback Camp.After settling into your accommodation at the luxury Rangelands Outback Camp, your private gourmet chef will satisfy your appetite with a delicious Outback dinner under the stars.Afterwards, settle into your supersize tent and enjoy a peaceful evening at the Rangelands Station.Overnight accommodation: Luxury Tent at Rangelands Outback Camp, Winton
- Day Three

Your day commences with a gourmet breakfast on the deck at Rangelands before heading out for a full day tour. First stop is the Australian Age of Dinosaurs, which is home to the largest collection of Australian Dinosaur fossils in the world!Following a delicious pub lunch explore the Waltzing Matilda Centre and enjoy free time to walk the main street of WintonReturning to Rangelands in the afternoon, join your hosts exploring the Rangelands Rift Formations. Then live out the true outback life as you watch the spectacular sunset turn into a stargazers dream.In the evening enjoy sunset and drinks and cheese platter on the deck before a gourmet dinner.Overnight Accommodation: Luxury Tent at Rangelands Outback Camp
- Day Four
Winton → Wallaroo, Carnarvon Ranges → Gold Coast
Enjoy a gourmet breakfast with a view on the deck of Rangelands before heading south-east for Wallaroo in the Carnarvon Ranges. Following your specialist guide into the Carnarvon Gorge National Park you’ll step off the tourst-worn trail and explore the regions incredible biodiversity and indigenous rock artLunch will be accommpanied by the spectacular rock formations and prehistoric landscape of the Carnarvon Ranges.Departing late-afternoon relax in the comfort of your Cessna Caravan before returning to civilization in the early evening and wish your fellow travellers farewell as the tour officially concludes.
